Guru Prasad Paudel

Guru Prasad Paudel is the Executive Director of Nepal Rastra Bank. Born into a middle-class family in Syangja, he completed his school-level education there before moving to Pokhara, where he earned his ICom, BCom, and MBA degrees at Prithvi Narayan Campus. His professional career began nearly thirty years ago when he passed the Public Service Commission exam to work as a computer-related Subba for the Regional Education Directorate in Pokhara. He later moved to Kathmandu to join a specialized team responsible for data management during the landmark publication of Nepal's School Leaving Certificate supplementary examination results in 2054 BS.

In 2059 BS, Paudel joined Nepal Rastra Bank as an Officer Third Class. Over his extensive tenure, he advanced through competitive examinations to become a Deputy Director and Director, eventually rising to the position of Executive Director. In his first year in this role, he led the Payment Systems Department, where he worked on the Digital Nepal Framework and oversaw the regulation, licensing, and supervision of fintech companies, payment service providers, and digital wallets. He currently heads the Banking and Financial Institutions Regulation Department, where he is responsible for issuing regulations and directives for commercial banks, development banks, finance companies, and microfinance institutions.
