Bidhan Rajbhandari
Bidhan Rajbhandari is a multi-disciplinary advertising professional and the founder of the agency Make Aways. Originally from Hetauda, his early creative pursuits included painting and playing drums in a local rock band called Date Expired. He later moved to Kathmandu to study Chartered Accountancy, which provided him with a strong financial background, and went on to complete his bachelor and master degrees in marketing. After receiving a scholarship from the Indian Embassy in 2006, he entered the advertising industry in 2007 through a training and job placement program organized by the Nepal Advertising Association, starting his career as a designer at Mars Advertising. Over the past seventeen years, he has developed a diverse skill set as a self-taught designer, painter, writer, and director of commercial ad films.
At his agency, Make Aways, Rajbhandari manages a nimble team of seven people, specializing in premium services for niche clients. Under his leadership, the agency set a historic record at the twelfth Kriti Awards by winning nineteen awards from twenty-four nominations. His individual achievements include winning the Best Creative Youth award in Nepal, representing the country at AdFest in Thailand, and becoming the first and only Nepali advertising professional invited to compete at Cannes Lions in 2012. Rajbhandari has worked extensively with major automotive brands such as Yamaha, Hero, and Neta, notably directing a global campaign for the Neta U electric vehicle.
