Ajaya Ghimire

Ajaya Ghimire is an educator, entrepreneur, and former banker with a diverse professional background spanning finance, real estate, and public policy. He completed his undergraduate degree through correspondence before earning a master's degree in mathematics from Punjab University in Chandigarh. He later received a Fulbright scholarship to study at the Sloan School of Management at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where he focused on finance and wrote his thesis under Nobel laureate Franco Modigliani. Ghimire began his career in banking at Nabil Bank, where he spent over seven years solving operational problems, helping introduce banking automation, and launching consumer finance and home loan programs. He subsequently co-founded Ace Finance in 1995, pioneered vertical living real estate with Ace Apartment, and established Vibor Bank, a development bank, in 2007.

Driven by a desire to make a meaningful impact on society, Ghimire pursued public policy studies at Georgetown University and Johns Hopkins University before dedicating his career fully to education. He co-founded the Ace Institute of Management in 1999 and later took over Rosebud School, initiating a lifelong commitment to reforming the educational landscape in Nepal. Currently serving as the Chairman of Ace School, he focuses on K-12 education, advocating for thinking classrooms, individualized learning, and the alignment of curriculum, pedagogy, and assessment. Ghimire is deeply committed to teacher empowerment, believing that the true societal impact of education lies in producing self-regulated learners and upgrading the quality and status of individual teachers.
