Anurag Maloo

Anurag Maloo is a climate athlete, community builder, and mountaineer whose work spans climate activism, education, and innovation. A former teacher with Teach for India, he has spent over a decade building startup communities, entrepreneurship ecosystems, and innovation networks across emerging markets in the Asia-Pacific region. His passion for the environment led him to an expedition in Antarctica in 2013, and he began training seriously as a mountaineer in 2020. Over the years, he has traveled to more than 60 countries and climbed ten mountains before embarking on his eleventh and highest expedition to Mount Annapurna.

In April 2023, Maloo fell into a crevasse on Mount Annapurna and was found at a depth of 68 meters, miraculously surviving for three days and nights. Following his rescue, he overcame a historic CPR session lasting over four hours, spent seven months in the hospital, and underwent amputations and extensive skin grafts. Despite having to relearn basic physical functions like walking and talking, Maloo has embraced a mindset of post-traumatic growth and accepted his new reality with optimism. He is currently focusing on his recovery, building his digital brand, and writing a book to share his incredible story of survival, community-driven mobilization, and resilience.
