Tyler McMahon
Tyler McMahon is an American entrepreneur and the co-founder of SmartPaani, a social enterprise in Nepal dedicated to sustainable water management. His connection to Nepal began in 2006 through a study abroad program, which later led him to return as a Fulbright researcher after graduating with a degree in economics focused on water policy. Utilizing his research on the economic aspects of rainwater harvesting, Tyler helped establish SmartPaani to implement rainwater collection, water filtration, and wastewater treatment systems. Under his guidance, the company has provided clean drinking water to over 300 schools, in addition to serving various homes, businesses, and apartments.
Beyond his work in water management, Tyler spent two and a half years working with the UN World Food Program in Nepal, where he oversaw the installation of a major urban solar power system.Tyler currently splits his time between the United States and Nepal with his wife, Sahili Basnet, and their rescue dog, Mia.
