Sushan Prajapati

Sushan Prajapati is a prominent cinematographer and Director of Photography in the Nepali film industry. Since graduating in motion picture photography in 2007, he has amassed a portfolio of over 30 films, beginning with his debut as both cinematographer and investor for the 2010 film Apawad. His extensive body of work includes notable titles such as Bulbul, Dimag Kharab, Saanghuro, and the critically acclaimed Red Suitcase, which premiered at the Venice Film Festival, won two awards, and was acquired by HBO for Europe. Prajapati has traveled globally for his work, shooting projects in countries like Bhutan, the United States, and Australia, including upcoming films like Tel Bhija, Kangaroo, and Sydney Blues.

He describes himself as a producer-friendly DOP who specializes in low-light and practical lighting, a preference influenced by the alleys of his hometown and his early training under Kishor Kayastha. Beyond his active shooting schedule, he is a founding member of a Nepali film campus, where he shares his experiences and teaches the next generation of filmmakers. He strongly advocates for mastering craftsmanship and focusing on skills rather than gear, embracing the philosophy that cheap, best, and fast can never coexist.
