Samrachana Adhikari

Samrachana Adhikari is an associate professor at the New York University School of Medicine. She completed her schooling in Nepal, studying up to class ten at Siddhartha Banasthali and completing her Intermediate in Science at St. Xavier's. She then moved to the United States to attend Mount Holyoke College, where she earned her Bachelor of Arts in mathematics and economics. During her undergraduate years, she conducted field research on microfinance in rural India. She went on to earn her PhD in statistics from Carnegie Mellon University, where her thesis focused on social network analysis, before completing a two-year postdoctoral fellowship at Harvard University.

Adhikari's research lies at the intersection of statistics, artificial intelligence, and medicine, with a focus on utilizing electronic medical records to improve clinical workflows and patient care. She received the AIS SIG Health Award for her research on the early detection of cardiac arrest, which she developed during a Data Science for Social Good Fellowship in Chicago. In addition to her work at NYU, she is involved in global health research in Sub-Saharan Africa and has engaged with academic institutions in Nepal, including teaching courses on artificial intelligence and statistics at the Madan Bhandari University of Science and Technology.
