Samir Shrestha

Samir Shrestha is the Chief Technology Officer of Telenet and has worked in the technology industry for approximately 14 years. He began his career in 2010 after completing his engineering studies, initially co-founding a home security system venture with friends before joining the Indian company Spice Digital. Through Telenet, which acted as a local partner, he helped deliver value-added services to Nepal Telecom. During this period, he led the launch of innovative telecom services in Nepal, including missed call alerts in 2010 and interactive voice response systems for dedicating songs in 2012.

Shrestha began studying cloud computing around 2016 and has spent the last five years deeply involved in cloud technologies, architectures, and migrations. As a technical leader, he has hands-on experience managing complex cloud transitions and security challenges, such as implementing auto-scaling solutions on Huawei Cloud to protect high-traffic news portals from distributed denial-of-service attacks. He is a strong advocate for digital adoption in Nepal, believing the country has the ideal climate, hydropower resources, and skilled manpower to host international cloud providers and retain local technical talent.
