Dr. Ashesh Bhattarai

Dr. Ashesh Bhattarai is the Country Market Lead for Nepal at the U.S. Soybean Export Council (USSEC), with a background in veterinary science and animal nutrition. He works closely with Nepal’s livestock, poultry and feed sectors, with a focus on strengthening the industry through better nutrition, market connections and international partnerships.

As a strong voice on Nepal’s agricultural sector, Dr. Bhattarai has raised concerns about the country’s agriculture budget, particularly the heavy allocation toward imported inorganic fertiliser and the limited investment in domestic alternatives. He advocates for policies that strengthen local value chains, encourage soybean processing, support organic fertiliser production and make agriculture a more secure and attractive profession through better markets, insurance and contract farming.
