Dipta Shah

Dipta Shah spent over half his life in America, before returning to Nepal seven years ago. Mr. Shah specialized in economics and international finance, and his extensive professional career has spanned diverse sectors including telecom, risk management, merger integration, development finance, strategy and budgeting, and venture capital.

Prior to his return, Mr. Shah's last full-time role was with the International Finance Corporation, the private sector arm of the World Bank Group, based in Washington D.C., where he notably launched IFC's pioneering Startup Catalyst program, a fund-of-funds initiative for early-stage investments in emerging and frontier markets. Since relocating to Nepal, he has maintained a consulting relationship with his former employer and has actively pursued new entrepreneurial ventures, investing his own capital and gaining firsthand experience in the local market. He offers critical insights into Nepal's private capital landscape, highlighting its evolution from a nascent stage to a more dynamic market, while also identifying significant gaps in financing, technical expertise, networks, talent, and infrastructure.
