Ashesh Bhattarai’s
Dr. Ashesh Bhattarai is a Nepalese poultry entrepreneur, veterinarian, and farmer who operates a highly mechanized farm with approximately 250,000 chickens, placing his business among the top ten poultry farms in Nepal. After studying veterinary medicine for five and a half years at the Rampur Campus in Chitwan, he joined his brother to expand the family poultry business, which was originally founded by their parents with just 500 chickens. Under his leadership, the farm transitioned to utilizing advanced technology, incorporating automated feeding systems, mobile-connected monitoring, and automated egg collection and grading to optimize efficiency.
In addition to managing his farm, Bhattarai serves as the vice-president of the Nepal Veterinary Association and works as a consultant for YUSEC. He is an advocate for agricultural policy reforms in Nepal, addressing critical issues such as high import taxes on feed ingredients like soybean and maize, the need for dedicated poultry zoning, and the challenges of urban encroachment on agricultural land. Through his work with the veterinary association, he also helps organize the annual Right to Protein Run to raise public awareness about nutrition and protein consumption across the country.
