Abhishek Shrestha

Abhishek Shrestha is the Country Director of IDP Education in Nepal, a role he assumed after being headhunted through LinkedIn. Prior to transitioning into the international education sector, he spent thirteen years building a successful career at Standard Chartered Bank. Driven by a desire to step out of his comfort zone and acquire comprehensive business skills, he accepted the challenge of establishing IDP's Nepal chapter from the ground up. Over his five years of leadership, he has expanded the local team to eighty-five full-time employees and established an organizational culture rooted in meritocracy, mutual respect, and collaborative growth.

Abhishek completed his early education at St. Xavier's School in Godavari and Jawalakhel, followed by high school in Dehradun and a bachelor's degree in Mumbai. He returned to Nepal to earn his MBA at the Kathmandu University School of Management, a conscious decision motivated by his desire to build a local network and support his aging parents. As a leader, he is deeply committed to ethical counseling practices, advocating that study abroad opportunities should be treated as long-term investments in personal development and global exposure rather than quick financial returns.
